    Stimulus Payments

President Obama recently signed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. This act provides for the one-time payment of $250 to individuals who receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or Social Security benefits. We expect everyone who is entitled to a payment to receive it by late May 2009. No action is required on your part. Updated information, as well as Frequently Asked Questions regarding Social Security's Economic Recovery One-Time Payments, may be found online at www.socialsecurity.gov/payment.

Stimulus Checks for the Old, Retarded, and lonely widows.... thanks Obama.... now what about the working man or woman? and extra 16 bucks a week on a check... great, I'll look forward to my dime and pack of smokes.

    Anonymous April 5, 2009 at 7:29 AM

Dear anonymous...You are black hearted. Maybe one day you will know what it's like to walk in the shoes of the LONELY,WIDOWED, or RETARDED.

    Anonymous April 5, 2009 at 9:54 AM

Sad part is people like that will be treated that way when something happens to them. I used to work and I worked hard. Same company for 10 years. Then cancer took it all away. You'll be there one day and know what it is like.

    Anonymous April 6, 2009 at 5:01 AM

Dear Annonomous,So sorry that you have Cancer, I will pray for a cure and a fast recovery. Cancer is a mean disease ,and My Husband has had Bladder Cancer twice ,Plus I have lost a lot of family member's. My heart is hurting for you. God Bless you.Thank's so much for your response.

    Anonymous April 11, 2009 at 9:52 PM

How typical a bunch of greedy women moaning and complaining because they are not going to get to bleed the ex's dry for even more money. God forbid they stop using the ex as a excuse for their misrable lives and get a job to support themselfs.

    Anonymous April 12, 2009 at 3:29 AM

thank you obama;for the stimulus ckeck because we need every penny you gives us we thank you for what you are doing for the people regardless off what some people say. we need you very much may god bless you and your family we do need more money but we will work with what we have thank you. god bless ruth kenosha wi.

    Imee April 15, 2009 at 4:36 PM

There's so many stuff from the stimulus package that seem really good to me. First is this Social Security stimulus check you mentioned, but aside from that there's also VA and RRB benefits, among many others. What's great is that beneficiaries don't need to do additional steps in order to get the additional compensation.

    Anonymous April 17, 2009 at 4:33 AM

I am disabled and so thankful for the $250.00. I would gladly replace one of you that work if you take my place being disabled. It is not fun. Be thankful you can work and earn money.

    Anonymous April 25, 2009 at 5:17 AM

To the anonymous that said the stimulus was for the old, widowed, and the one i refuse to spell, you are about the most pathetic excuse!!!!!! my step-son is disabled with MR and if he could be a hard working man he would be, instead his father and i work extra hard,-i have two jobs,he works for the RR- so that my son doesn't need to work. I welcome the extra help in this tough time.

    Anonymous April 26, 2009 at 3:24 AM

To the one who is complaining about getting 16 bucks a week on their paycheck. Hum, that comes out to $832 a year. People on SS etc are only getting $250. Kind of puts a different light on the subject doesn't it? Your getting $583 more than the people getting the $250. Just thought I would clarify that for you in case you can't subtract. Go crawl back under your rock!!!!

    Anonymous April 26, 2009 at 8:56 PM

I am neither old, lonely, widowed or the "R" word. I am 25 and I was a hard working citizen until my kidneys failed and I had to start dialysis. I appreciate any extra money that is sent my way while I'm down - I plan to go back to work soon but it takes a little time to adjust and recover.

You are what's wrong with America, people assuming that if someone recieves social security they are one of those things. Try to think about all the situations that could lead to this instead of being negative about everything.

God forbid if you are ever disabled or sick and have to depend on Social Security. Then maybe you'll think twice before you say such hateful things.

    Anonymous April 27, 2009 at 3:11 AM

I'd happily return my 22 yr old son's $250 stimulus check if it would cure his autism! If he could talk, have normal intelligence & and gee, if we could live a normal life without locks on cupboards & refrigerators, toileting accidents, aggression, etc. To Anonymous who made the stupid remark about parents of disabled kids, I bet your life is a hell of a lot easier than mine. Wanna trade???

    Anonymous April 27, 2009 at 11:18 PM

No, If you have a disabled child on SSI you will get the payment. Its for children on social secerity who wont, ( If a parent dies a child gets social secerity ext) SSI children will get it.

For the person who likes to call children the " R" word. My son is Autistic and has sever heart problems. He is far from the "R" word. Infact I would use that word only to discribe someone like YOU :)

    Anonymous April 28, 2009 at 5:45 AM

TO the person that commented about the old, retarded and lonley widows is so stupid. If you do the math you are getting about $16 a week that adds up to you getting $832 a year these people are only getting $250 once.

    Anonymous April 28, 2009 at 10:14 AM

Wow people its just $250.00 not a big amount though living on SSI is not enough to piss on. I myself am not going to piss, whine, and moan over $250.00 its a shame its not an increase monthly its not easy living on $674.00 a month with no help. Almost everything you rent these days is about $400-600.00 plus a month & $400.00 is only when you rent as a roommate. After rent you dont have much for food so if you have other bills your fuct.

    Anonymous April 30, 2009 at 4:03 AM

To the person only making around $600.00 a month on SSI. I feel for you. That is around what my son get's , It's awful trying to survive. He get's a piddily amount on food stamp's, But lucked out getting A one bedroom room efficiency Apt through HUD. Maybe you can check in your area, There may be a waiting list, But worth it down the road. Good Luck

    Anonymous April 30, 2009 at 8:48 AM

the kids who are recieving social security benefits will get the check.

    Anonymous April 30, 2009 at 9:09 PM

To anyone who feels as though the one's receiving SSI (whether they be old, widowed or mentally retarded) are "getting" something, or lucky to get SSI, I pray you will never go through what these people or their families go through. My son was born with epilepsy and believe me, the little help I get each month does not make up for the 17 years I have watched my son go into seizures or be disappointed because he can't do something or fight with the school to treat him right. The money is not a "freebie" in life...

    Anonymous May 1, 2009 at 1:01 AM

to the one that made a comment about ones who receive ss.i work three jobs just to make ends met.i hardly dont see my son because i have to work to provide for him.i receive social security.not by choice you see my husband commited suicide 4 years.so before you speak think about what you said.if i start to date lets just hope i dont date you.

    Sarah May 1, 2009 at 6:51 PM

First, there are tons of people who are not going to be receiving money that they either deserve or think they deserve it.

Obama is not a miracle worker and can only work with what he can and if I remember correctly he had to fight just to get THIS stimulus package.

If he hadn't gotten this then people would be complaining about THAT.

These days freaking suck and if you're one of the people crying about women being blood suckers of their ex's your probably the lazy bums not doing their job.

And yes, the women need to take responsibility of what they are doing because really after a while it's no longer your ex's fault.

My mom worked two jobs most of my life and most of the time they were two full time jobs. Then she got hurt at work and wasn't allowed to work and now from ssi she gets paid sh**. She deserves this stimulus check as much as anyone else. And people who don't think so, can fu** off.

    Anonymous May 1, 2009 at 7:05 PM

to the person who's son is a epileptic both my husband and I are too(epileptic)plus our younger son is multiply challanged,we are all receiving president Obamas gracious gift the stimulus check,
we are on section 8 and barely making it!It will help pay bills!!

    debann48 May 2, 2009 at 6:18 PM

To everyone, I also have a disabled son that had a prenatal stroke and bleeding on the brain due to indused labor. He today is 27 and hold a job making $18.00 an hour due to a person choice he has made. My opinion is not everyone has that choice and yes there are all different kinds of people out there. Some rightfully getting help finacially, and some taking advantage of the system. There is no solution to the problem. If there were maybe the ones that need the help as an adult and with disbled children could get more if there were more funds used honestly. God bless all of you with children of special needs. My heart goes out to you. I worry everyday of my life about my son and wish he didnt have to suffer mentally and physically. Lets not bash each other and just have compassion as we can use it at this time.

    Anonymous May 3, 2009 at 5:17 AM

I also get SSI and it is not by choice. I cannot work and I would give anything to be able to. Trying to survie on a little over 600 a month is horrible. As one person stated, rent takes at least half of that. You might be able to pay your electric and then you sit there and wait on the next check. What kind of life is that?

I am thankful that I will be getting the extra 250 dollars but be honest folks, what good will it do? It will just go from our hands to someone else. Then we are all right back in the same boat. If the government is going to get in debt anyway, why not raise the monthly payments? Try and get some balance in the system. If prices are higher than wages or income, what is the point?

I feel so badly for those who have children who are disabled. It is horrible to watch the faces on these children's faces, when all they want to do is be normal. Then again, what is considered "normal" these days. There is so much greed, hate, and no one has any compassion for anyone anymore. What is wrong with people? We are all in this together, why do we all have to fight over a few hundred dollars that will just vanish anyway? The system does not work, that is what needs changed, not just dishing out a few bucks here and there.

Do something about the "system" if you want to see a better life. Don't talk about it or say, here is a few dollars, go buy a loaf of bread, which is what it all comes down to basically. I see no sense in all the bickery. What is, "is just that" it is what it will be and nothing more.

People need health care, others are starving, some are homeless, some are so desperate that they will go in the wrong direction just to survive. What is wrong with our country? A "human being" will not stand to be knocked down, turned away or spit on and sit there and take it. Love one another and do your best. The sad part, is that everything could be worse and probably will be sooner or later, if someone does not get off there butt and actually 'DO' something.

    Anonymous May 7, 2009 at 9:19 PM

To all you stupid people that feel that my kids do not deserve to get a one timepayment from this FU government well screw you with no grease. My kids dad worked hard for this fricken country. I am sad that your kid is messed up. But dont get mad because some of us did not smoke dope or drink alcohol while pregnant. That is why your kid is messed up! It is just a shame that my kids cant get the money because we will stimulate the economy more than a disabled or retired person. The disabled will buy nothing but medicine, coffee and cigarettes. The retired if they are smart will put it in the bank. Thanks so much! Mr. President! The kids got shafted out of the economic stimulus check from last year and now they are getting it again. That's ok though cause the measley $250 aint going to do sh** anyway???!!!!

    Anonymous May 8, 2009 at 12:19 AM

Its too bad the greedy grasping women have sucked the blood out of their ex's can't get even more? Its just so wrong.....EXACTLY..IGGY comes to mind...your EX has SS benifits going to his kids and im sure he didnt just QUIT working ..stop whinning over it! its only $250 and your just bitter because he left YOU

    Anonymous May 8, 2009 at 12:38 AM

as i read what some of have said , the way you've said it and how you spell, i can only suggest that some of you take that $250 and use it to purchase the hooked on phonics program and fine tune your education a bit. maybe the ones that are able to work could get a job or better jobs and not have to depend so much on their ex spouces for support...just a thought.

    Anonymous May 8, 2009 at 12:57 AM

Once again I want to thank everyone that voted for Obama! I have paid all my bills and taxes and have cut my own wrist to make ends, and yet we get screwed again. I pay my own bills not the state or the government! and I see nothing. I guess I have to milk the system to get anything in return!

    Anonymous May 8, 2009 at 5:44 PM

Excuse me but my husband also served 20 years in the military and is disbled (service connected) My son is disabled due to Doctors error, oh ya that would be the Great military doctors. And works at a job 62 hours a week with one orm that is useless and cant use. My son doesnt smoke or do drugs his comment on all that is.( why do you want to smell like your hindend on purpose)I dont smoke anything thank you or drink. We sat the example for our boys all 4 of them.Oh wow your child derserves the stimulus check if rated on moms that are stupied and uneducated. Are you fimiliar with taxes..duh look at all the child tax credits thier. sounds like a person that called my office that has several disabled chilren and was yellin casuse awwww they got shafted. But get a SSI check all year for a child that has learning problems. Why does children get SSI. when all they need is their medical needs meet. I amsure none of you agree caue you will have to work harder to subport your families. We have name for people like you.Obama shouold take SSI away and give all the medical needs to the child that is needed. Honestly where does the money go from that childs check.

    Anonymous May 8, 2009 at 6:00 PM

For your information, you stupid bitch, I did not smoke dope or drink during my pregnancy. I DID NOT cause my son's Autism. I did not ask for a life where I have to watch my kid struggle with simple things. Be happy that your kids don't have those kinds of issues. Be grateful that you don't have to deal with doctors, school issues, therapists, and other bullshit that goes along with having a disabled child. Be thankful that you won't have to hope like hell that someone will care for him when you are gone from this Earth. So, while you sit on your high horse and begrudge the disabled this little bit of money, think about how you would feel if your children were disabled and people acted like shits over them getting a small amount of money and made nasty remarks about them? I mean, if you can get it through your black, stone-cold heart. Better yet, post your address, so I can send you my son's money, in pennies, so you can shove it up your sanctimonious ass.

    Anonymous May 8, 2009 at 8:00 PM

ALL OF U COMPLAINING THAT U ONLY GET $16 MORE a week in ur paycheck forgot that last year u got $600 while we the people on ss, ssi, and ssdi got nothing.
We are getting a measly $250 stop complaining. As for the "r" person, u are the only "r" person for using such a word. where is your intelligence. Didn;t your mother teach u not to make fun of others. Try wearing our shoes and see how u like it. I bet u would not complain about that $250 except to say it is not enuf.

Kudos to all of u living like me on ssi and surviving. That $250 is not coming fast enuf.

    Anonymous May 8, 2009 at 11:58 PM

I have a 4 y/o son with Cerebral Palsy & epilepsy...I would trade ALL the money in the world for him to be able to do all the things other children his age do. Receiving SSI every month is not like a hand out. Without Medicaid, my son would have NOTHING. There would be no way to pay for the special day care & equipment for him. The $705 from SSI does not come close to covering ANY, let alone, all of the costs that come along with having a disabled child. How can people be so CRUEL & IGNORANT? I don't understand why anybody would want to disrespect those less fortunate than themselves. Myself & my fiance served for 4 years in the military. We can't get any assistance anywhere. Trying to work to keep enough money coming in just to get by is hard. Especially with a disabled child. So many appointments, hospitalizations, etc. Not to mention the fact that we also have 2 other children. Everyday I look into my son's eyes, and I wish I could trade places with him. He is ONLY 4...He has not had the chance to enjoy his childhood...Not even for one second. I know all of the people using harsh words, and criticizing those receiving SSI would probably not last long in our shoes. Imagine your baby not being able to control anything they do. My son cannot walk, talk, feed himself...NOTHING. He is a BLESSING...Far from a RETARD. Ignorance begets ignorance. I hope you people are not raising your children to be as narrow minded as you.

    Unknown May 9, 2009 at 7:15 AM

Wow the posting of the lonely, retarded comment just shows how very uneducated you are. There are men, women and children who have suffered deeply and need the benefits that they receive they range from Soldiers who have fought for our country, children who were born with problems and men and women who need the help no one asks for they problems they are dealt with we just have to overcome and I am thankful that at least someday we may have a cure for our ailments but stupidity and ignorance have not been diagnosed as a disease... So I am very sorry for you...

    Anonymous May 10, 2009 at 12:54 AM

Heather, I could not have said, it any better than you, God help each and everyone on SS and disibility. No one want's to be in the shape or the living hell that some of these people are going through. It is just plain ignorance with people you can make the horrible remark's that they do. The table's can turn on them at any time, I wish nothing but the best for everyone. God bless you Heather

    Anonymous May 10, 2009 at 1:05 AM

To the Mom with the son with Autism, I feel for you. I have a 36 yr old grandaughter that has one of the really bad form's of the illiness. She live's in a groop home. Her family has her for all kind's of outing's and all holiday's. She is very much loved But it is sad the life she live's And yes she get's a monthy check. She well deserve's it as well as your son. We have to take what life throw's at us and deal with it. Don;t pay any attention to these ignorant people out there They will get their's some day God be with you

Emily Leggins May 10, 2009 at 2:22 AM

I am 30 years old and have been disabled since I was 20. I have an autoimmune disease called Antiphospholipid Syndrome. I am unable to work as I am in almost constant pain in addition to my reccurent blood clots. I wish I was able to work since you don't get anywhere close to enough to live on. I however don't think I will receive mine because I am currently late on my property taxes. That annonymus piece of S*** has no idea how some of us live of how badly we are in need. I thank the goverment even if I don't receive mine.

    Anonymous May 10, 2009 at 9:33 AM

My son is four years old and his father died . Does anyone know if he will be elgible for the stimulus payment. It would be a big help during this time but it won't make up for the loss of his dad!May God Bless each and every one of you. I've read some of these post and my heart goes out to the parents with disabled children some people don't know how lucky they are we take soo very much for granted once again GOD Bless!!!

    Anonymous May 10, 2009 at 12:46 PM

Hi Emily , I am hopeing that you get your Stimulus money, You so very well deserve it. I am so sorry you are living with this horrible daily pain. This Stimulus is a little different, I think, from the last one. They sent them out this last Thursday, so may be another week or so. I don't know for sure if they are going by first enitial of last name or not, But I know of some one alredy getting their's with tha last name starting with a B. so hang in there and let us know if you get your's. God Bless you and good Luck.

    Anonymous May 11, 2009 at 1:01 AM

So glad to see you single moms stressed out over $250 bucks! Why don't you get up off the sunken couch and go to work you fat, toothless, worthless swamp hogs. Have a nice day and may God Bless!

    Anonymous May 12, 2009 at 12:05 AM

If Washington would quit bailing out the executives of banks and auto makers and give that money to the working man, we wouldn't be in a recession anymore. The consumer drives the economy not the white collar pricks who decide to lay off the blue collar man so that they can keep their 7 figure jobs.

    Anonymous May 12, 2009 at 12:58 AM

I had read that children under 18 won't get a stimulus check.

    Anonymous May 12, 2009 at 2:00 AM

Maybe the govenment will see that bailing out the White Collar worker's is not working and still give money out to the people to jump start the Economy . I have been hearing some people saying that it has not yet been completely ruled out, Maybe they know something that we don't. I am praying for it to still happen

    Krystle May 12, 2009 at 4:23 AM

Geez!!! Parents of disabled kids under 18 dont get NOTHING?!?!?!?! I have TWO kids ages 4 and 2 with autism...! Who came up with that bullshit that children who recieve SSI under 18 cant get a check?! I was going to go and buy my children some much needed spring clothes and educational toys ......Thanx for NOTHING Obama!!!!!

    Anonymous May 12, 2009 at 7:52 AM

To the mother with 2 diabled children, you should receive the payment if you are receiving ssi for them. It's children who receive social security (survivors benefits) that wont. I'm in the same situation and thought I wouldn't get it, so I researched the ss website, and it said that children on ssi are eligible.

    Anonymous May 12, 2009 at 9:58 AM

How come everyone keeps jumping on Obama? Bush never gave us SS people anything with the first stimulus. Sure I'm cranky that it's not much to poke at but at least it's something.

    Anonymous May 12, 2009 at 11:56 AM

From what your reply states you sound like you should be collecting a SSI Check too!

    Posted this bullcrap!!:

I mean, if you can get it through your black, stone-cold heart. Better yet, post your address, so I can send you my son's money, in pennies, so you can shove it up your sanctimonious ass.

I have to sit and laugh at the idiots that like to call names. First of all, I am educated, and very well at that. My oldest son has Asberger's Syndrome, a form of autism. Up until 2 years ago, I was a single mother of 3. I did NOT sit on my couch, I put myself through college and worked 2 jobs to take care of my kids. How dare you judge people because their children are disabled. Grow up you ignorant fool!

I can't believe how people are. I work and take care of my disabled child. I am a single mother cause after so many years of marriage wasn't worth anything anymore. I just want to tell all the ones who have not so nice things to say ALWAYS REMEMBER KARMA IS A BI**CH!!!!!! I wouldnt trade my son for anything. I am still learning with him.. God Bless You All!!!!!

(even if youre absolutely right ofcourse)just an observation...im educated too.

I can't believe what I'm reading . You have people on here calling people who can't help it names. All because Obama is not giving you money to get drunk or buy your drugs . These are people who have a problem who can't do for them selfs and you have the nerve to call them names. I knew there was ugly people in this world just didn't know they where heartless also . People like you make me sick . You should get a check because only people that pick of people with problems , have problems of their own ..Also to the women who don't want to work and collect the mans money you made the child as well as he did get a job and stop living off the man that's why your not with them after all BLOOD SUCKERS !!

    Anonymous May 13, 2009 at 2:28 PM

I know exactly how you feel about the women who have kid's and just kick back getting child support from the dad's is not right. Make's me sick. Also it take's two to tango. My Son is paying child support out of his disibility, He is not mad at that as much as he is having to pay back( all) the money to welfare for her having the children. She should have to pay half also . It's not right. This also is coming out of his disibility . It's not fair. I think all the men that have to pay cild support get a raw deal in as how much they pay out and leaving them barely able to servive themselve's, While the women sit back and enjoy. It's not right and nothing fare about it at all. Most of them are perfectly able to work. They could get job's that way the men could pay less and be able to live a decent life too.

I'm a mother of 2 children with cystic fibrosis 2 years old and 5 years old.I recieve ssi for both of them...being that i have 2 children who are disabled it's very hard to keep a job when they are constantly going in the hospital.so YES this $250 dollars helps out VERY VERY much...It will help me get things that i need for my children,so for people who are so upset that they are not getting a check or that they think its a waste to give the check to people on ssi....Thats soooo wrong, would you wanna trade places?

    Anonymous May 14, 2009 at 10:36 AM

To the person who said that everyone who received a check was old, R , or a widow I am none of the above and would love to be out still working , I had just graduated college got my degree in nursing , when I started having seizures , and they found a tumor on my brain , I will never be able to work again It is in operable to I have to go back every two years for high doses of radation to shrink it and stay on meds the rest of my life and live with seizures on a daily basis so by all means I would give that 250 bucks up anyday to have my normal life back and defintly my pay back I had as a nurse compared to my little check I get each month

    Anonymous May 15, 2009 at 3:30 AM

I, for one, am very grateful for the SSI payment, and will be even more grateful for the $250 stimulus. If I could work, I would surely do just that, I could make more working and not have to struggle so hard. But, alas, I have an inoperable brain tumor and have many deficits. I loved working, and miss it dearly. So to those of you who have no heart, think about how any of these ailments could strike you in a moment's notice, like mine did, and how it can take everything away from you in 2 seconds, and feel more deeply for the disabled and seniors.

    Anonymous May 16, 2009 at 2:43 AM

Thank You Obama, first off. I did receive my ssi stimulus check today 5-15-09. I live in New York. We can not cash or access until 5-18-09.

    gehx May 19, 2009 at 1:25 AM

I have a friend who received a post marked check in the mail friday....my ssd chk gets dir. dep. so i figured I'd receive mine today, no dice. I just wish they told us what day we'll be receiving it.................

    Anonymous May 19, 2009 at 1:53 AM

This is worded confusingly concerning disabled children. If your child receives SSI for a disability, you WILL get the $250 payment.

    Anonymous May 21, 2009 at 12:57 AM

I am retired Veteran with no disabilities. Do I still get a check.

    Anonymous May 21, 2009 at 2:01 AM

    Anonymous May 21, 2009 at 3:43 PM

    Anonymous May 21, 2009 at 3:48 PM

If you have a defaulted or owed student loan or think you do or owe any back taxes or think you do or have delinquent child support payments owed or think you do, or have an out standing traffic ticket or think you do call 1-800-304-3107 to find out if they have kept your $250.00 SS one time payment to offset the debt.
I am on SS disability (dying of colon cancer metastasized to lungs and liver) and called this number just to see.
Sure enough May 7th the $250.00 was applied to a debt I owe. 1 traffic ticket and 1 student loan ~ Both things I thought I had taken care of. Oh well, my fault and I know now (wry grin).

    Anonymous May 22, 2009 at 9:57 AM

What is up with all the people coming down on the mom's for not working...who do you think is raising the kids when these dads go off to jump in someone else's bed? It took 2 to make the baby, and if the dad doesn't want to pay for it maybe he should stay out of the bed.

    Anonymous May 23, 2009 at 1:11 AM

To the person with Colon cancer. I am one of those people that believe that where there is life there is hope. I am praying for you. get well. God Bless you

    Anonymous May 23, 2009 at 1:16 AM

To the woman complaining about other people complaining about them working and raising the kid's It sure as hell is not fair to the men to carry the whole load when the woman can work and raise their kid's to. I did it. so can you so get off your lazy duff and get a job Fair is fair. It take's two to tango. Your probably not sleeping alone now either .

    Anonymous May 23, 2009 at 2:32 AM

my daughter receives death benefits from her passed away father.. will she see the stimulus payment?

    Anonymous May 26, 2009 at 3:23 AM

I would just like to say that people make too many assumptions when they are bitter and/or jealous. People that get this are not just lonely/widowed/or retarted. I have a beautiful 2 year old that I barely see because I work 2 full time jobs and go to college full time. Her dad passed away unexpectidly when she was only four months old. People like me get this money too because her dad never got to get his social security that he paid in his whole life; however, he can rest in peace knowing that his child is taken care of and he is still helping raise her with the money he paid in for his retirement. For those that are taking care of their kids that aren't goign to get the money need to take the papers to the social security office and get it changed.

    Anonymous May 27, 2009 at 3:53 AM

Wow I hate being disabled but life sometimes life can throw you hard balls.. to the person that said that we are retarded, Old or Widowed Mothers wow what an ass hole.. I hope God shows you how hard it is to life our lives.
    You should grow up

    Anonymous May 28, 2009 at 10:33 AM

To the person who keeps saying awful things about single mothers:

I was raised by a single mother who often worked two jobs to provide for my brother and I and still at times found it very difficult to make ends meet. Who are you to say bad things about women who being both mother and father to their children? "Weekend Daddys" deserve to pay child support and any other money that is needed. When you are raising children who you are there to bathe, tuck in, and feed every night alone you see how important that $250 is.

    Anonymous May 29, 2009 at 11:19 PM

You all are silly and bicker over nothing. My nephew is 8 and he just got a 250.00 check so everyone else on ssi should receive it as well. And guess what. Anyone who owes child support will not get one so there, put that in your big golden pipe and smoke it. Majority of the people who recieve ssi do not pay child support anyways. My ex is supposed to pay a measely 112.00 a month for our two girls but he doesn't, I do not get help from him. He called and left a rude message so I am guessing his wife received her ssi check and not him.

    Anonymous May 30, 2009 at 7:32 PM

Why don't all of you parents grow up. If everyone worked as hard on their relationships instead of as hard as you do bickering, You wouldn't have to worry about affording these children you laid down and had. I don't blame all the moms any more than I do the father. But if you can't afford to raise them then you may want to make different arrangements. I have been married for 35 years, yes and not always wonderful been through some aweful times, but my sons were always happy and are unaware of any of the times we went through. Anything from A-Z happened during those years but today we are happy our children love us for working on keeping our children safe and happy. We did it for them because our love for them was greater than our own selfishness. All I have to say is grow up. Take care of your babies and do what you need to do for your child.

Where's the stimulus check for the US Postal Service retirees? This stupid President and his Congress aren't even bailing out their own government retirees.

    Anonymous June 2, 2009 at 5:23 PM

The Us Poatal Worker's should get a Stimulus chack, I Believe. But only if they are on Social Security.I do not think it is right if they are, and do not get one. They deserve it just as much as any one else.

    Anonymous June 4, 2009 at 5:19 PM

you know, bottomline we are all in a great need of help in one way or another regardless the amount. we are going through hard times and can benefit from every penny we can get. ......

Frank Rough June 16, 2009 at 1:46 AM

No $250.00 check for you. . . Drawing Social Security in JAN 09 disqualifies one from the 2009 SS-Stimulus money, not to mention that it also disqualified me from a work pay stimulus since I no longer work. Guess I'm too poor to qualify.

    Anonymous July 13, 2009 at 4:26 PM

This is as much BS as it gets...I receive disability, take care of 4 children and have two child support cases for children that are now adults, one in jail for life (raised mostly by his no good arse of a Mother who sent him to live with me at 13, by then he was lost) and the other I raised as much as her mother did...once I was picked up on a warrant for child support and had to find a baby sitter to watch her...the officer was mad as hell, said the system is screwed. I've tried to talk to these people, they act like the money is theirs and the system is set up for everyone to be put in one basket. I work part time as much as I can to try and make ends meet, its difficult when you hurt all the time. my current wife is in constant pain and doesn't have health insurance which makes it difficult to work...we get no return at tax time...child support takes it all...it would be fair to the other children if they took a percentage...if I can make any money under the table I will...I love this country but existing policy can go straight to hell...get what you can but they won't take it all. Stimulus is BS...create your own.

    Anonymous July 16, 2009 at 12:05 PM

My gosh your life is a wreck. I feel for you And I totaly agree the system suck's And ya know it seem's like the men get the worse end of it all. You don't stand a chance. Something has got to change. I am so hopeing that some good will come to you and your life will turn around , You have sufford enough. I have 4 son's and belive me they have been put through the mill also . Right now I have a 34 year old son on a puny disibility check and has 2 kid's and they are taking child support out of his check. He has 2 hundred to live on after paying his rent and child support.and a piddly amount in food stamp's. Our family is helping him out. He is a really bad diabetic and will alway's need help. It's a rotton country we live in any more. Good luck and keep us posted in case something good come's your way. A worried Mom

    Anonymous March 4, 2010 at 7:45 PM

There will be no $250 check--the senate voted on March 3, 2010 against giving any money to Social Security recipients. The money is needed for bombing Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq and Somalia etc. Remember, the Taliban are threatening to take the US over - barefoot and with rockets in their hands - they are the real threat to our system, where you work more hours than in any other country in the world, where health care is not free, where universities are not free —where the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer by the day. But who wants Socialism? Socialism means the wealth of a country is evenly spread among its citizens. Socialism means free schools, free universities, free health care, extremely low rents, extremely low mortgages, free care for children, an additional monthly paycheck for vacation, generous pensions for senior citizens. But US Americans don't want this. So do not complain.

    Anonymous May 29, 2010 at 2:06 AM

There are stimulus checks, my sister got her $250 mid may. They say by the end of may everyone should have gotten their checks for 2010. Good luck good peeps.

I read here, http://www.savingtoinvest.com/2010/08/2011-cola-increase-for-social-security-benefits-in-doubt.html , that there is no 2010 payment this year. Has this been confirmed?
