TEXAS INSTRUMENTS LAYOFF: TI to LAYOFF 3,400 JOBS after profits fall sharply
Chip Maker Texas Instrument has seen a sharp drop - of about 87% - in its profits. After warning that conditions would deteriorate further in 2009, Texas Instrument has deided to layoff about 12% of its workforce which amounts to about 3,400 employees. According to the report, 1,800 of these are layoffs while 1,600 are voluntary departures. source: Nytimes.

TI has started layoff in India as well, though they don’t call it layoff.
Employees are laid off quitely with ZERO severance.
