The death of Iran-Pakistan-India Gas Pipeline project

The $7.5 billion Iran-Pakistan-India Gas Pipeline project, or the IPI project for short, looks almost over. Although at one point of time, this project did make economical sense, with the current escalation of tensions between India and Pakistan after the Mumbai attack, it makes sense for India to put brakes on this project for security reasons. Moreover, it seems now Pakistan is also thinking of backing out.

Pakistani authorities might recommend to parliament to abandon the proposed Iran-Pakistan-India gas pipeline project as Tehran is demanding higher gas prices, a media report said today.
