You say that the account opening charge is Nil for SBICAPSEC, but when I submitted the form last week, they said they will charge me one time fee of 400 Rs. -Sameer

I was also charged Rs 400 to start an account. Besides there is an AMC of Rs 400. I thing you can save Rs 50 id you decide to get e-statements rather than paper statements. I am a newbie user. Is there any help available on how to use the trading platform.

@abhijeet

you've to allocate fund before you can buy a share. you can do that as follows:
1.Log in to your account
2.click on fund lien
3.frm the drop down list choose "STATE BANK OF INDIA".
4.TO allocate fund select "mark" and to de allocate select "unmark" in next drop box.
5.Enter amount and click submit.
6.confirm and click submit again.
it'll re direct you to onlinesbi . com
7.Enter your online sbi username and password.
8.Confirm the transfer twice.
9.Click close at the end.

then you can use this marked lien to buy shares..
